Basic Usages Part IV

19. I don't have time to + (verb)
………အခ်ိန္မရွိဘူး။ အခ်ိန္မရဘူး။
The word 'don't' is a contraction of the words 'do not.' When adding 'have time to' you are simply stating that you have other obligations and all other things considered must wait.
Here are some examples:
"I don't have time to explain." မင္းကိုရွင္းျပဖို႔အခ်ိန္မရွိဘူး။
"I don't have time to eat." စားဖို႔အခ်ိန္မရွိဘူး။
"I don't have time to exercise." ေလ့က်င့္ဖို႔အခ်ိန္မရဘူး။
"I don't have time to watch my favorite TV show." ငါအႀကိဳက္ဆံုး တီဗီအစီအစဥ္ကိုၾကည့္ဖို႔အခ်ိန္မရဘူး။
"I don't have time to talk." (မင္းနဲ႔) ေျပာေနဖို႔အခ်ိန္မရဘူး။

You can also use the phrase 'I don't' to express things you do not like, things you do not understand, or things you do not do.
မႀကိဳက္၊ နားမည္ ဟုဆိုလိုခ်င္သည့္အခါတြင္လည္း I don"t ကိုသံုးႏိုင္သည္။
Here are some examples:
"I don't eat meat." အသားမစားပါ။ (မႀကိဳက္ပါ)
"I don't like the rain." မိုးရြာတာကိုမႀကိဳက္ပါ။
"I don't understand Spanish." စပိန္ဘာသာကို နားမလည္ပါ။
"I do not understand what you are saying." မင္းဘာေျပာတယ္ဆိုတာကို နားမလည္ပါ။
"I do not like scary movies." ထိတ္လန္႔စရာရုပ္ရွင္ကားမ်ားကို မႀကိဳက္ပါ.
"I do not like sports." အားကစားကိုမႀကိဳက္ပါ။ (၀ါသနာမပါပါ)


20. I promise not to + (verb)
………ဖို႔ကတိေပးပါတယ္
When using the word 'promise' you are giving your word that what you are saying is true. You might also be assuring someone a guarantee that you will follow thru on what you are saying to them.
When using 'promise not to' you are stating you will not do a particular thing.
Here are some examples:

"I promise not to tell." ျပန္မေျပာဖို႔ကတိေပးတယ္။
"I promise not to leave without you." မင္းမပါပဲမသြားဖို႔ ကတိေပးတယ္။
"I promise not to be so late." ေနာက္မက်ဖို႔ ကတိေပးတယ္။
"I promise not to hurt your feelings." မင္းစိတ္မထိခိုက္ေစဖို႔ ကတိေပးပါတယ္။
"I promise not to wake you up." မႏိႈးေစရဘူးလို႔ ကတိေပးတယ္။

You can also just use the word 'promise' to assure someone of your intentions.

Here are some examples:

"I promise I am telling the truth." တကယ္ အမွန္ကုိေျပာေနတာပါ။
"I promise to practice my math." သခၤ်ာကို တကယ္ေလ့က်င့္ပါမယ္ ကတိေပးပါတယ္။
"I promise to call you." မင္းကိုဖုန္းေခၚလိုက္ပါမယ္ ကတိေပးပါတယ္။
"
I promise I will tell you." မင္းကိုေျပာျပပါ့မယ္ ကတိေပးပါတယ္။
"
I promise I will come to your party." မင္းပါတီကိုလာဖို႔ကတိေပးပါတယ္။

21. I'd rather + (verb)
……..ပိုေကာင္းမယ္။
'I'd' is a contraction of the words 'I had' or 'I would.'
When using it with the word 'rather' you are suggesting you would like to do or prefer one thing more than another.
Here are some examples:
"I'd rather talk about this later." အဲဒီအေၾကာင္းကိုေနာက္မွေျပာခ်င္တယ္။
"I'd like to eat at home than go get fast food." ဆိုင္မွာထြက္စားတာထက္စာရင္ အိမ္မွာပဲစားခ်င္တယ္။
"I'd rather ski than snowboard." ႏွင္းေလွ်ာစီးတာထက္စာရင္ စကိတ္ပဲစီးမယ္။
"I'd rather stay late than come in early tomorrow." ေနာက္က်တဲ့အထိေနၿပီးမွ နက္ျဖန္မနက္ေစာေစာလာမယ္
"I'd rather handle the problem myself." ျပႆနာကိုကိုယ္ဖာသာပဲေျဖရွင္းခ်င္တယ္။
"I had rather go home than stay out too late." အျပင္မွာေနာက္က်တဲ့အထိေနတာထက္စာရင္ အိမ္ပဲျပန္ခ်င္တယ္။
"I had rather listen to my parents or get in trouble." ဒုကၡအေရာက္ခံမဲ့အစား မိဘစကားကိုပဲနားေထာင္မွာေပါ့။
"I would rather exercise than sit on the couch all day." ခံုတန္းမွတစ္ေန႔လံုးထိုင္ေနတာထက္စာရင္ ေလ့က်င့္ခန္းေတြပဲလုပ္ေနခ်င္တယ္။
"I would rather complete my task early." ငါ့အလုပ္ေတြကိုေစာေစာအၿပီးသတ္လိုက္မယ္ေလ။

22. I feel like + (verb-ing)
……….ရင္ေကာင္းမွာ
Here you are expressing to someone something you would enjoy doing.
တစ္စံုတစ္ခုလုပ္ရင္ ေကာင္းမည္ေပ်ာ္ရႊင္မည္ စသည္ကိုေဖၚျပလိုေသာအခါသံုးသည္။
Here are some examples:
"I feel like going for a bike ride." စက္ဘီးစီးရရင္ေကာင္းမွာ
"I feel like going to the beach." ကမ္းေျခသြားလည္ရင္ေကာင္းမွာ
"I feel like having a snack." မုန္စားရရင္ေကာင္းမွာ
"I feel like talking." စကားေျပာရရင္ေကာင္းမွာ
"I feel like dancing." ကရရင္ေကာင္းမွာ
"I feel like watching TV." တီဗီၾကည့္ရရင္ေကာင္းမွာ

By adding 'don't' or 'do not' you can change what you are saying to express something you would not enjoy or express a concern about something.
do not ကိုထည့္လိုက္ျခင္းျဖင့္ မႏွစ္ၿမိဳ႕ ဟူေသာ အဓိပၸါယ္ကိုသက္ေရာက္ေစသည္။
Here are some examples:
"I don't feel like leaving yet." မသြားခ်င္ေသးဘူး။
"I don't feel like explaining." မရွင္းျပခ်င္ဘူး။
"I don't feel like going to bed." အိပ္ရာမ၀င္ခ်င္ေသးဘူး။
"I do not feel comfortable talking about it." အဲဒီအေၾကာင္းေျပာရတာ သက္ေတာင့္သက္သာရွိတယ္လို႔ငါမထင္ဘူး။
"I do not feel like we are going in the right direction." လမ္းမွန္ကိုသြားေနတယ္လို႔ငါမထင္ဘူး။

23. I can't help + (verb-ing)
…………မတတ္ႏိုင္ဘူး။
The word 'can't' is contraction for 'cannot.' Combined with 'help' you are communicating something you are unable to control or having a hard time gaining a grasp for. This can be a physical or mental action.
Here are some examples:
"I can't help thinking about it." မေတြးဘဲမေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
"I can't help shopping so much." ေစ်းမထြက္ပဲမေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
"I can't help working all the time." တစ္ခ်ိန္လံုးအလုပ္မလုပ္ပဲမေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
"I can't help smiling when I see her." သူမကိုေတြ႔ရင္ ျပံဳးမျပပဲမေနႏိုင္ဘူး
"I can't help eating so much." အမ်ားႀကီးမစားပဲ မေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
"I can't help loving you." မင္းကိုမခ်စ္ဘဲ မေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
"I can not help biting my nails when I am nervous." ငါစိတ္လႈပ္ရွားလာရင္ လက္သည္းမကိုက္ပဲ မေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
"I can not help smoking when I have been drinking." ငါအရက္ေသာက္ၿပီးရင္ ေဆးလိပ္မေသာက္ပဲ မေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
"I cannot help feeling so sad." ၀မ္းမနည္းပဲကို မေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
"I cannot help remembering the things you did." မင္းလုပ္ခဲ့တာကို သတိမရပဲမေနႏိုင္ဘူး။
